Adding Accounts to a WebCT Course

Note - Please do not attempt to add students who are/will-be/should-be in the class. They will have access temporarily, but will be automatically deleted and will cause us problems by generating error conditions during the automatic upload of student accounts.

You can do the following yourself:

  1. Add any existing WebCT account (including student accounts) as a Designer (instructor) or as a Teaching Assistant.
  2. Add an existing account as a Student if the account is not one of the "three letter/four digit" accounts given to students. For example, this allows you to put another faculty member in as a student for a look at the class. You can also add or delete your own "student account" (the one ending in _s) anytime you wish.

You cannot do the following yourself:

  1. Add a standard "three letter/four digit" student account as a Student to the class. If this is needed, we will need to add them to an override file. Please send a request to service with the class, the student name, number, and WebCT ID, and the reason for the request. (Note - If you try to do this, it will work until our next automatic update, when they will lose access and cause us problems with our upload.)
  2. Create a WebCT account that does not exist. If an account is needed that is not an enrolled student and is not a faculty member requesting a WebCT course, please send a request to service giving the particulars. (Example: faculty member who needs access as

KSU Service Desk (service@kennesaw.edu or X6999).
